And maybe the engine from the '02...

do you guys think it's possible? I'm willing to bet that our cars have the same tranny mounts and that all the surrounding engine parts are the same (minus exhaust) as the '02...

I don't mean changing cars... just the parts ..
do you guys think it'd be possible? Practical?

By the time I'd be considering this I should have around 50k miles on my original engine.... at worst it could give my aging car some new life

You'll also have to make sure the electrical system is set up correctly also because it'll involve ECU swapping. I'm sure it's possible.... I think..... I hope..... I guess...... nevermind, I'm just babbling.

The tranny shouldn't be too bad... if all the other hardware is the same.... there's been many times where I've wished there was something else between 3rd and 4th... or maybe 2nd and 3rd...

It wouldn't be worth it if it required another shift (1-2-3) to get to 60... cuz right now 2nd ends at about 63 mph...

Umm, the 2k2 is 3.5L as well. Take your engine and bore it out another half liter and thats the engine they gave it. I think there was exhaust done as well, i dunno.

Isn't that pretty much what the new Max engine is going to be anyway (minus the variable valve timing and 20 hp or so).

I think the 6spd should be possible. Autoweek said it is basically the same tranny but with another gear added and converted it from rod shift to cable shift.

I thought Nissan completely redesigned the tranny, not just added an extra gear
