Time to buy rims

Hey guys,
its been awhile since I've posted here, but i've got a few concerns i need to clear up. The time has finally come to buy new wheels, and im a little confused. I already have new tires that i hvae on my stock gle rims that i will be putting on to my new rims that im going to purchase. I have an 02 maxi with the gle rims... i understand the bolt pattern is 5x100 or 5x114.3 with the size being 17x7. Before I go about ordering a set, i was a little confused about the offset issue. Some rims say +40 while others say +38. What exactly am i looking for? I just want a direct replacement for my stock gle rims.

Thanks for your help in advance.

I think you should post in the Tires and Wheels subforum.

Your stock 17x7 GLEs are 5x114.3 with + 40 mm offset. Tire size is 215/55/17. This information is also in your owners manual.

What exactly was the question again? Are you just confirming the specs or asking for recommendations?

thanks for the quick responses...

does the offset of the rim make a difference at all when it comes down to fitament with a tire size of factory specs?

thanks.

Sort of. If you get a rim with a lower offset but get to tall of a tire (ie sidewall height) and you are lowered there could be some rubbing issues. But mostly you should just be concerned about the width of the wheel.

tire size and offset are hardly related.. but wheels with wrong offsets mostly don't look any good. specifically if it's less then 30 mm. ever seen 350z wheels on a maxima? that's what it will look like.
