Officially Joined the H&R/Illumina Club

Went from stock GLE setup to H/R springs and Tokico Illumina Struts/Shocks. I left the bumbstops alone due to the facts from everyones help here and that is was a milder drop.

ATM I am running on 3F/4R. Figured mind as well go a little on the agressive side to see how it all turned out. Considering I had my new setup for only 14 hours, I will be glad to input more thoughts on everying soon as well as pics.

These Pros/Cons are comparing my stock setup to now.

Pros- Very sporty and much more of a pleasurable ride (feels how a maxima should be comfy and sporty), and turns 10x better on turns of all speeds. Comfortable even at stiffer dampening.

Cons- 2 to 3 outa 10 bumbyness (youll get that with any lowered suspension), The uneven stance is not the perfect look, but having comfort should be any maxima owners priority goal(IMO).

I cannot wait to try other settings and actually see if a 2F/3R or even 2F/2R would feel less bumby in return more comfortable.

So your saying you feel the ride is more comfortable..... but also bumpier? Can you explain this? And do you have any pics of the drop?

wow...so you think the ride is bumpy? Good thing you didnt get other springs b/c H&Rs offer the most comfy ride. Set them up to 2/2..thats what I have and its pretty decent. But coming from your GLE setup to this I can imagine both are worlds apart...My current set up (same as yours) is very similiar to how my stock SE suspension was...atleast thats how it feels to me

I didnt say it was more comfortable, yet it is very comfy compared to lowered suspensions in genereal. The bumb factor could be due to my stiffer dampening levels 3/F:4/R. The bumpy factor is there but not enough to be bothersome. And 2 outa 10 that is not much only enough for an owner or someone looking for it to really notice.

what's a "bumb"?

BTW, I think what you are trying to say is that road imperfections are more readily translated to the cabin, which it typical of lowered suspensions with higher spring rates in general, but may be magnified by worn mounts if they were not replaced.

I personally don't think it's a terribly good idea to further reduce the dampening settings on your Illuminas. You will largely be subject to more bottoming out as well as a decrease in ride motion control(read; Floaty).

Just my .02

Thanks for clearing that up, and i appreciate your advise with the dampening .02 I will keep that in close consideration. I will still most likely try one setting softer to really see for myself and if it applies to my road conditions (roads are sheet).

speaking of settings , is there an easier way to get to the rear shocks other than folding back the trunk lining? (probably not)

IMO, that is the easiest way. I also don't replace the lining clips right around the strut tower. In fact, I probably threw them all away.
