Unfortunately, it was another Maxima....

My 2k GXE 5-speed VERSUS His 2k SE automatic....

I felt kinda bad for the poor guy cuz he kept on trying...
(we raced 4 consecutive times @ each stoplight)

Each time his auto would just give a light chirp in 1st...
and by the time i hit 2nd gear, I already had a good car and a half on him...
By the time i hit 65mph in 2nd I had over 2 cars...
and so on and so on...

I didn't WANT to do it...but he revved on me!

How rude...

I thought you posted "FINALLY....taunted someone into a RACE last nite!!!.... " and then you posted "I didn't WANT to do it...but he revved on me!"

Don't lie...you knew what you were doing...shame on you. (I only say that cause I have a Automatis SE) I wonder if a Stillen supercharger in the automatic would have made any difference? Is your car stock or mod?

What I've heard...

... is that if you put a Super Charger and Nitrous and a VB mod and A Y-pipe and cattback on an Auto that you just might be able to beat a bone stock 5 speed with four flat tires. This could be just a rumor though.

Aww man.. that was supposed to be a joke, I have an auto too. Anyway, I think a supercharged auto should toast a stock 5spd, assuming you have the VB mod.

Re: How rude...

ok...so "maybe" i was kinda taunting him...hahahaha.

---Adam---

PS: my car is 100% stock (only 3 weeks old...1800 miles).

Valve body modification. Upgrade to the auto-tranny to increase the pressure I believe. Don in Texas does them. Check Kev's sig for a link to his email or just search the forums for "Don in Texas"

Hmmmm...

being that I can't go to Texas...does Kev know what Don did? Would Don be willing to inform me or my mechanic what he did? Maybe I should read the other posts first......

Supercharger Power

A Supercharger will add what 60+ HP? what will the VB mod do? [/I][/QUOTE]

The supercharger added almost 100 HP to my 2K auto maxima. It dynoed 174 FWHP bone stock prior to the SCer and after the SCer it dynoed 250 FWHP. The VB mod (valve body upgrade which by the way is ONLY required for an automatic tranny) is an absolute must for the 2K maximas if you plan on making any performance mods. It will make your shifts firm and crisp especially from 1st to 2nd and 2rd to 3rd. (My car will occasionally chirp 2nd now under WOT) A 5-speed 2K or 2001 would probably get a slight jump off the line on me but once I hit 3K on the tach. and got into my boost power band ... well lets just say, "SEE YA!!" Later.

What kind of Supercharger did you get? How did they adjust the VB(Is it a part or an adjustment)? Did you get the transmission cooler? How much did the above cost ya?
Any help greatly appreciated.

It is a Stillen SCer and the one you're looking at is the only one in the country that you'll see on an automatic 2K max. Why you ask? Because after my "guinea pig" maxima Stillen discovered that the airfilter assembly DIDN'T FIT on an auto max and the auto tranny COULD NOT handle the power generated by the SCer. Since my car Stillen has resolved the airfilter assembly issue and redesigned the air intake part of the kit, however, because of obvious liability issues with regard to the tranny Stillen will not sell the SCer kit to any 5th Gen maxima owner with an automatic transmission. My car can handle the power output but thats only because I've done the following mods:

- Upgraded VB (thanks to Don Cooper in Texas)
- Hayden Tranny Cooler (once again thanks to Don)
- Newly reprogramed TCU (transmission control unit)
- Redline Synthetic Tranny fluid

Total cost is as follows:

- Stillen V2 Supercharger kit = $3350.00
- Labor to install(total pain in the butt) = $1400.00
**Note the labor also included a Greddy Turbo Boost
Gauge and A-Pillar mount
- Transmission upgrades (parts & labor) = $850.00

Was it worth it??? In a word, HELL YES!!! (Well ok that was 2 words) I've had my share of headaches with the SCer but I think (HOPEFULLY) we've worked out all the bugs.

Thats not good if you ask me...

What kind of guarantee did you get from Stillen regarding your trans. It doesn't make sense to me because if you have to reprogram the TCU then Stillen could easily identify what needs to be done. Obviously their confidence in how it is set up is not good (I called them and they mentioned your car). They are hoping the 2001 or 2002 fixed that set up in the tranny. I think what they did was more work than they wanted to do so they scrapped the idea...

I'm glad youe enjoy it...I sincerely hope nothing bad happens. But apparently iif nothing happens then you have a bad *** Maxima...does anyone else make a supercharger for 2000's?

I discovered the TCU problem via the TSB (technical service bulletin) that Nissan put out, and consequently Nissan replaced the TCU under warranty. Yeah I have spoken with my attorney about the whole transmission deal with my car and he says that I definitely have a case against them, but if I don't have any further problems with the car and the SCer I probably won't pursue it. Besides Stillen has reimbursed me for all parts and labor charges that I have incurred to this point for problems that have been attributed to the SCer. (Kudos for them on that point) I definitely do agree with your implication that Stillen failed in their R&D of the SCer for the 2K maxima. Later

wow.............$ 5,600.00

sorry man...but IMO, I think that that is a lot of money for 100hp more. specially if it's an auto, ( which will always be a bit slower than a 5sp).. But hey... at least you have a SC, I don't.

NHRA Racing Categories

Thats why they make different categories in drag racing. You never see the Pros running stick shifts with A/T.
To bad for the other Guy. I have an A/T, but I find lots of matches to run with like BMW 528, Acuras, Accords, Mitsus Diamantes, Millenias, none SC Pontiacs, Audis, Jettas VR6, etc. all of them with A/T.
Sherwood Green,16" Wheels, Stillen YPipe, Stillen Highflow Filter and lots of TLC.

I don't recall whom I spoke with...I just kept getting the run around why they would not sell the S/C for the Automatic...he would not give me a straight answer...just kept saying the transmission(but nothing specific). I am getting the new TCU unit put in my car anyway...I told him that but he said they would still not sell it. Obviously there is more to this than meets the eye. I agree that they did not do enough R&D on this. You definately have a lawsuit should something happen to your car.
