Have a 2000 SE. Another car 'brushed' up against my rear driver fender. No body damage, but more of body scratches. I have used magires polish before to gently remove moderate paint scratches. I
want to get my car washed. Should I hold off and first try to clean the other cars paint off of mine with some Maguires?

I would use Turtle Wax rubbing compound with a applicator, then use Turtle Wax Polishing compound, then a wax after that. Gets most of my scratches out.

Buff it at 1500rpm with a light cutting compound. Then wax.
Hehe you probably don't have a buffer at home so... do they sell AutoMagic detailing products at stores? Because that's what we use at our shop and it works really well... If not try NismoSpeed's suggestion.

Be careful when using a highspeed buffer, many rookies ruin their paint using buffers.
If the scratches are really bad you have to get your car color sanded.

Clay would remove paint and stuff on top of the clear coat... Most paints have several layers of clear coat and buffing takes off a layer (or two if your not careful) of the clear taking the scratch off with it... When you use a highspeed buffer you can't hold the buffer in one place long at all. Make passes covering the general area, and keep the area saturated with your buffing compound (I suggest a light cut). You can buff old-school style and buff till the compound powders off or keep it wet and wipe it off with a microfiber towel or a soft cloth.. Either way, you've never buffed before I wouldn't suggest it... I'm a detailer at the local Nissan dealership lol so I'm lucky.Originally Posted by SlurpeeKing
