A/T Tranny not changing properly
A/T Tranny not changing properly
Well, this is my problem.. I did the search thing but no luck... so maybe someone can help me out. The tranny goes form 1st to 2nd gear fine. From 2nd to 3rd it change and it looses the grip and the rev goes up..... I have no clue on how to really explain this. Imagine riding a bicycle and changing your gears and you chain comes loose for a few seconds and then grip again...!!! Selenoids?? hopefully this is the right word.
Thanks

sounds like u need new clutch plates, if your getting gear slippage, thats just my .02, im not an expert and i could be wrong but i think that is a good place to start
or, you could do yourself a favor, sell your car and get a 6sp!

but try to put some of those transmission slip fix fluids in it.
I would suggest SeaFoam Trans Tune....

this is a very common problem with a TSB.

and please dont listen to the other people who clearly have no idea what they are talking about.
HINT: you probably need to replace the TCM

That's funny because I was going post a thread about this. My tranny was rebuilt and 2 weeks later my MAF sensor blew. My car was down over the weekend and then I finally replaced it. After I replaced it, I test drove it and all gears were fine except 2-3 gear. It just revved up like yours did. So, I did it again.....same thing. I took my car back to the tranny place and he test drove it. He asked me if I replaced my MAF sensor. I told him yes. He said I might need to take it back to whoever replaced it because it's not compatible. I told him that it a MAF sensor for a Nissan. He said well, you might need to get your ECU reprogrammed for it, because its not sending the correct voltage to my ECU, causing my 2-3 gearing to be off. Has anyone ever heard of this?? I took it to Nissan and they said that I do need to reprogram my ECU everytime my MAF sensor gets changed. But the part about my MAF sensor affecting the way my tranny shifts, I've never heard of that. I'm not saying the guy is wrong about the tranny, but just wondering. He also unplugged my drop resistor, because he didnt want to hurt my tranny by driving around with a slipping 2-3.
+1 for the "replace the TCM"
I had the same issue. (00 automatic) I had it replaced under warranty.
Good thing is that once replaced you can make your transmission
"RE-Learn" the shifting.
Good luck.

There is also a TSB for the VB. But IIRC, it's only the 1-2 shift problem.

Once he changed his MAF, the tranny started shifting normally again.
Also, many have replaced their MAF and did not reprogram the ECU, myself included, with no problems.
