I'm hearing a noise coming from under the left side of my car when I turn the key on and when I shut the car off. It sounds like a small motor buzzing and lasts for about 5 -10 seconds. I think it's the fuel pump. It also does this if I,m going around a drive thru. This just started about a month ago. Does anyone have any ideas ?

Are you sure it hasn't been happening the whole time? My car does the same thing. I'm guessing it's the fuel pump preparing the engine to start by increasing fuel pressure to the right level.

The fuel pump isn't in the front of the car, it's located above the gas tank under your back seat. The sound you hear are the fuel injectors pressurizing. I think it is normal.
