Stupid Exhaust Question
Hey,
This is going to be the opposite from normal exhaust questions. Most people ask "which exhaust will make me sound like a 350z" well, my question is, which aftermarket exhaust is the quiete sounding.
Reason is, my b-pipe and muffler is pretty much all rusted out, warranty is not covering it, so instead of paying double for OEM parts, I might as well go after-market. problem is, I don't want something too loud or impractical for daily use. Also, most of the links in the exhaust sound thread are dead, so I'm at your mercy.
Thanks

Another stupid question:
anyone have soundclips of just the cat-back. All I can find on youtube or on the .org is catback + other exhaust parts (headers, y-pipe, etc)
also, for megan exhaust, is it Model Number : MR-CBS-NM0002
00-03 Maxima Megan Racing OE-RS series cat backs the one that goes for 380$? (I'd assume so because that's the only catback for maximas they have)

frankencar doesnt make exhausts any more, why do you guys keep saying frankencar FTMFW?
megan racing seems like a cheap alternative with out too much sound.
yea but stainless looks better. and doesn't rust like the stock one does.

I've been preaching this for a long time now, but hardly anyone seems to want to listen.

To the OP, since the rest of your exhaust is stock, your setup will still be quiet and look good and wont rust.

cattman cat-back is quieter than stock at idle imo, and from 2200-2500rpms the sound is roughly the same volume as stock but the pitch is a little lower. its very mellow and smooth. This is all my opinion, but with everything else stock, I believe you will be happy. Cheaper still would be the Megan Racing one, but I trust Cattman to deliver quality stuff and give good advice.
EDIT: there is a b-pipe sleeve you can also purchase with the cattman that will make it even quieter. So, if you're worried, do that and it will be about the most quiet setup you can possibly get, with stainless steel and the fitment, no regrets ever.

B-pipe sleeve? Do you mean the resonator? If so, the resonator is standard on all his b-pipes. But if you want ONLY the resonator, then that can be bought separately (minus the entire pipe)

Or just go OEM but buy at net discounts. Check out this site. It is actually a Nissan dealer, Jerry Rome, near me in Springfield, MA. But I'm guessing Nissan won't let them advertise that fact at these prices. It's close enough to me that I offered to pick up the replacement exhaust I ordered but pick-up is not an option. I suspect Nissan corporate restrictions there too.
Have ordered a number of parts and they show up promptly (your mailing time may vary from mine).

I've also ordered from Courtesy Nissan in Texas. Now they have no problem connecting with Nissan and also have good prices. I usually check both and prices are usually pretty close between the two but sometimes can vary dramatically.

Its funny about you mentioning rust. The pipe from my muffler going to the b-pipe just rusted off a few fays ago and I finally had time today to see the problem. I think I am going to go with a cattman muffler, nothing but good things I hear and it is not obnoxious.
