From Sport Compact Car Magazine, December 2000 issue.

Won't be up forever though, limited space. If anyone with more space wants to host 'em, let me know so I can point people to it!

And the `99 Maxima mentioned on the first page is none other Jay Lee!

Thanks for the scans! Cool info!

I am quite surprised at how the kit is tuned though. Its all low end and zero top end. With the way the stock powerband is (max power at redline) they could have easily gotten 350 + at the wheels. Why they didnt is beyond me. The way the JWT kit is tuned, a stock Maxima wont be far behind it on the highway from a high rpm roll! After 5000 rpm, the power drops way too fast...it looks like JWT is dropping boost off drastically. There must be a reason for it though...they are not idiots.

But, with the peak power outputs Stillen has gotten from the Vortech at only 6 psi, I still have to wonder why JWT didnt get more top end out of this car.

Has anyone actually seen a dyno graph of a supercharged 2k? I'm curious as to the validity of stillens claims and even if true they have no low/mid range power compared to the turbo. Likewise, I'd like to see this car dyno'd with a good clutch as slippage might have caused the poor numbers.

Diederik has a sc on his auto and he puts down 250 fwhp. Add about 30 more for the 5 spd.

BTW, thanks for posting the article Brian.

I am by no means disputing your claims but are you telling me that a 5spd is putting 280hp to the ground with 6psi? That sounds more like stillen bragging again. I do think the JWT kit should make better #'s than the sc especially if it can hit up to 10psi. If the loss is not from a weak clutch then something else seems fishy with the system. Again, I'm not trying to be insulting but just playing the devils advocate.

It's cool. If an auto can put 250 to the ground, then the 5 spd should be somewhere around there (this is derived from 176 fwhp for autos and 191 fwhp for 5 spds). They've stated numbers around there, but you know Stillen...

I also believe they should've goten higher numbers with 10 psi. There must be a reason for the low numbers (weak clutch is one of them).

I recieved a dyno plot from Stillen which showed:

Max Torque 231 ft lb @ 5800 rpm
Max Power 281 hp @ 6400 rpm

All numbers at the wheels.

But, the plot is suspicious. See my post:
