Who had an ignition coil problem?
Possibly me.
I’m getting a nasty hesitation 3500-4500 RPM any gear. Only when it’s hot.
Finally got the car to act up for the dealer today…goes in tomorrow to get fixed. I’ll keep you posted.
No check engine light, no codes thrown on the diag., by the way.
Wish me luck.

After a long and involved negotiation, Nissan finally relented and replaced all 6 of my ignition coils. I haven't had a detonation problem since then.
BTW, there's another individual who used to post in this forum who also had an ignition coil problem. I don't believe he posts here anymore. He never got a MIL light but he was able to make his engine detonate in front of a Zone Rep. Nissan replaced three of his coils and his detonation problem went away.
FYI, leaky coils are a known problem in early model 2K Maximas. The problem was fixed some time ago in parts and production, but Nissan never issued a TSB to cover it because of its infrequency. It shouldn't be a problem in 2K1 Maximas, but anything is possible.
I thought Kevin said he had hesitation problems. Where is he today?

didn't Kev, (y2kevse), have some of his coils replaced? I thought he was having some trouble and decribed a problem of hearing a sound like marbles sliding in a can as a symptom of detonation

I'm here!!!

I have the hesitation problem you're talking about, and the ECU threw a Camshaft Position Sensor code.
When I was NA, my car would intermittently hesitate at about 4K. Now, my car hesitates at 90 mph or 3K while I'm cruising. If I floor it from a stop, it won't happen.
Turbo95Max and I will be swapping coils from another Maxima into mine to see if the problem still persists. We'll let you know what the outcome is.
BTW, swapping ECU's didn't work.

I had it
I had a coil problem recently. Whenever it was humid or after a rain and on a warm-start it would misfire (seemed like only one cylinder). Shutting the engine off and restarted usually took care of it. Three trips over 4 days to the dealer finally took care of it. If you have CA emissions...the warranty for such will take care of the parts and labor until 50k (I think). OH yeah...I was getting a Check Engine Light and the stored code...the dealer said it was coming back with a (reprogram ECU). The light always didn't come on with the problem though...it only came on after the car stalled from the misfiring.
