A long time ago I read an article about theoretically swapping the VG cams for the VQ cams (in the VQ engine) the guy was suggesting that the changes could result in 300 hp from the engine...

I don't know enough about the differences in the engine or how much this would change or break etc. What do you guys think?

This "guy" doesn't know what he's talking about. Ain't no way switching cams alone is gonna yield the 80hp needed to get to 300hp. Besides, the VG and VQ are completely different engine familes. VERY unlikely the cams would swap or even work well if they did.

This was in SCC (I can't remember how long ago), it was Dave Coleman's Technobabble article. What he was talking about was taking the vg's crank and putting in a vq. Doing so would increase the displacement of the vq to 3.4 liters instead of 3.0...he went on to say that you'd probably get about 300 hp out of the conversion.

I asked this question on here right after I read that, but most everyone here said that it would be impractical, not to mention expensive.

Guys, that article was purely theoritical. I don't believe he even knew if the parts were interchangable or not. Just wishfull thinking on his part.
