Wanting different tail lights
#2
I'm not sure if you have SE or GXE/GLE but you could buy the OEM SE taillights from Nissan or you could also wait and buy the altezza-syle lights on the 2002, someone posted earlier a rough price of about 130.00 for these altezza style 2002 lights from your local Nissan.

I just got of the phone with www.nissanwholesaleparts.com, Trophy Nissan and they told me the price was $145.08 each. They arent out yet either.

It's true, the '02 tails are not out yet. When they become availible, the price I got directly from Nissan, minus the .org discount puts the right at $105 a side. That $145.08 price is 15 bucks more than full Nissan list price.
So, unless Nissan knee-jerks & raises the price before the parts release, $105 a side will be what they go for!

Don't know for sure, but it sure looks like a direct fit in both the pics and the parts catalog. When they come in, I'll mock them up on my car, (I've actually gotten fond of the pokemons!) & determine how to get them on a 00-01.

It makes financial sense for the tail lights to be a direct replacement, because Nissan probably isn't stupid enough to change the sheetmetal on the car for only one production year. They wouldn't be able to amortize the massive tooling costs for 2002's Maxima volume very well, resulting in an unattractive price increase.

You can get black out spray and black out the whole light, then deal with this altezza crap. Personally, I think blacked out gxe/gle lights will look better than the factory se lights, if done correctly.
