Unless it is raining or snowing, I always have the sunroof open. Now if a bird does his thing on the sunroof glass, I do not use the sunroof till I have cleaned the dirt off. I want to know, is this a needed precaution? Can opening the sunroof deposit the bird stuff in the sunroof space? And how about water, does opening a wet sunroof leave water in a poorly draining space, increasing the risk of rust?

 

As far as rain goes I do not believe it will do any damage to the "inner thingies", neither should bird doody as long as it's not very tall...
