Well Zaino was some incredible stuff... but to expensive.
I have a little Z-5 left, but enough for the whole car.
It didn't really ELIMINATE every swirl and scratch, just did a dam good job of hiding them.
I think i am going to invest in having my car professionally done with compound or i even heard of this sandblasting thing. Anybody know of this?
Which ever way, as soon as i get the car back, i am going to drop a whole bottle of Mguiars gold class on it, Zaino mucho money.

I just zaino-ed my silver Max (3rd coat) this weekend and it looks awesome. The stuff isn't supposed to be so expensive if you follow their directions. I have used it several times now and use about 1/2 of what I used the first time. The problem is that it is still 2-3 times more than recommended. How the hell are you going to use 2 oz. on a whole car. The damn applicator sucks up an ounce by itself and that is after you wet it with Z-6 like they suggest. I use way too much of everything.

Also did one side of the wife's minivan which is metallic reddish. You can really see the difference on that. Now she wants the whole thing done. I would need a whole bottle of everything to do that boat.

Does anybody use a little as they suggest? Anybody have any tips on conserving the stuff?

I've done my Max several times, 4 coats of Z-2 and 2 of Z-5 along with a coat of Z-2 on the wife's Expy (no there's a boat especially if you do the top) not to mention the Z-6 spray. I still have plenty of formula left to do many more vehicles. I just wet the applicator with water and go at it.

Just try not to use it like a normal wax. You don't need to see a big haze to know that it is there.

 

I thought the Pre-Lok has to be used sparingly, not the Z-2 or z-5? Yes/No/maybe? I thought the z-2 or z-2 you apply amount like any other polish.

No, you are supposed to use very little of all of the zaino products cuz they're super concentrated

 

No, Z-5 and Z-2 should be applied super-thin. You gain absolutley nothing by putting it on thicker (except for longer drying time). Zaino says one bottle should last 8 coats, but in reality you should get at least 15 coats out of the bottle. When you take that into account, a bottle of Z-5 at $17 or Z-2 at $12 is the cheapest wax around.

I bought a new bottle of Z-5 at the beginning of the summer, and so far I've only used about 1.5 ounces to do 6 coats.

 

Dammit, i must of been doing overkill.. oh well, im gonna order more zaino and this time get the gloss spray thing...

Detailing costs 100 dollar and THEY dont even guarantee to eliminate every swirl and scratch.

While you're there shopping around, read EVERYTHING on their site. They specifically say some applications require multiple "processes" of the Z5 to eliminate swirl marks. I have a lighter colored car, so I do not experience the same troubles as you.

Use straight lines and no circular motion, this includes washing. The circular motion causes swirls. You should also note their tips section points out you get better results if applied and taken off in straight lines.

I've used most all of the "popular" products, and Zaino wins hands down. The Z6 is awesome. I use it after every wash, not only after the polishing. It keeps the car silky smooth between washes, not to mention the excellent shine and reflective properties. The stuff costs more than most if you choose to apply more, but it does not hurt. Remember, you get what you pay for.
