anyone ever get this problem.. my freaking trunk won't open. Last time i opened, then closed it was when i vaccuumed it out yesterday. Today,I pressed the BUTTON on the remote thing and it doesnt work. I just hear a thunk.
I tried pulling the lever but that doesn't work either, It just thunks. I tried putting the Key in but it wont even go through. Well , i cant take it to the dealer till Friday or maybe until monday, so maybe somebody can help now.
It's not a big deal, but i just like i to work.

it's not locked from the inside of the trunk, is it? there's a safety on it for valets.

open it with the key.... there is a small push lever in the hinge that must be depressed. It prevents openeing the trunk using the key or the interior trunk latch.

He said he tried the key...

Have you tried accessing the trunk compartment from the interior of the car (pass through opening) and jiggling the safety lock on the trunk latch? This is the thing you would have pushed down or pulled up on. Maybe it is stuck or jammed.

just wondering...

I know you said you tried your key, but maybe you tried using the valet key accidentally? If you don't have your fold-down seats locked then you can crawl into the trunk like mdeal said and see if maybe the valet lock is stuck
Just a thought from a newbie...

Yeah, I moved the not-remote open level and did not have it fully disengaged. Move it completely in both directions to make sure you have it fully disengaged. As for the key not going all the way in might indicate a mechanical problem with the locking mechanism...Not to state the obvious.

Good luck!

Well i crawled into that spacious trunk in 94 degree weather.. i was in there like for 6 mintues and i lost 6 lbs of body fat.
Anyway that little VALET LEVER i never knew about was the problem... it wasn't fully down, nor fully down, it was right in the middle. I guess i must slammed the trunk to hard to get it like that. Anyway everything is all good and my stash of (videos) are safe in my trunk.

radpp16, you didn't have to crawl over any bodies to get to the lever, did you?

When I engage, or disengage, my locking lever, I make sure it is either all the way up or all the way down. It seems there is some resistence about half-way in between and it does not surprise me it could get stuck in between.

Yep...I had that happen all the time with my Sentra...I think it's about time that Nissan redesigned that stupid latch...maybe make it latch sideways instead of up and down?
