Got my September C&D yesterday. (Probably won't be on caranddriver.com for a couple of weeks.) They have preview review of both the Altima and the Sentra.

Nothing new about the Altima, except for pricing: $16 to $23K...

Sentra SE-R will come in two flavors: The SE-R and the SE-R Spec V. (As in Skyline GT-R V Spec. I swear Nissan hired some GM marketing types.)

Spec V has the Altima's inline 4cyl, 180hp@6000rpm, 180lb-ft@4400rpm, with an LSD. (The Spec V makes 10hp more than the SE-R the same way the AE makes 5 more hp than the regular Max, via a modified exhaust.)

The thing still has a beam rear axle, though.

Pricing @ 17-18K. Estimated performance for the Spec V w/6sp MTX will do 0-60 in 6.9, 15.5@90mph straight out of the box.

Sorry if that's old info, but I haven't kept up on the Sentra. Been to ****ed at Nissan for the Altima.

That's not bad.
It aught to give the new Si and the SVT focus a run for their money
