I don't like how the interior has that Accord/Stratus/Altima dash/center console design where the lower part is pushed in...outside looks like a Taurus

I agree the interior is so ghetto. It's like the new accord guys and the altims and the stratus and the camrys think they are cool by making there intrior look like a civic! it's nicer than the current model but nothing special that I would run out and buy...

I do.

It's what lets me fit my huge-@ss legs in the car and have plenty of side-to-side movement freedom with my right leg. This is how it is in my Accord.

The 97-01 Camry's had the more swept dash/console design like the Maxima and I couldn't fit in that well either because of my huge legs.

So I got an Accord...

I saw one today when i dropped my pops off to pick up his truck. They had the LE there fully loaded and was kinda nice. The Camry is a schoolteacher car or a grandma that only drive it church type car wheras the Max is a young professional 4dsc with an edge to it.

I don't think it looks bad, definetly an improvement IMO. The interior is where my main problem is...

The new camry looks like a current Avalon, and I'm sorry but those Avalons just SCREAM "O L D P E R S O N".

Plus, just try and get a Camry with a V-6 and manual xmission. The dealer will make you pay full price, up front, before they'll even place the order.

I think I'll stick with my Max.

Thanks for the pix though

Wow... That new style sort of reminds me of the Avalon. A little boxy around the back tail lights I think. Toyotas are good, reliable cars but they never seem as aggressive as the Nissans. Always kind of reserved.

Interior looks like a Ford Taurus, with a cheap Avalon interior. Front end from a Celica-Taurus. And the rear looks like a Taurus.

One more thing... they dropped the V6 5 speed option. Too bad. It was the one thing going for the Camry.

Yikes! The car lost HP for 2002. It's now 192 HP.

Interesting how you say the Camry is ugly yet you own a 2k1 SE. Look at the rear of the Camry. Now look at the rear of your car. Looks similar. The shape of the bumper, the shape of the taillights, etc..similar to the 5th gen Maxima. I think the Maxima looks a little better, but not much better.

I don't think is UGGLEEE. But I think it does look like a Taurus. The interior is ugly and very Buick-like. The loss of HP and 5 speed is not good either. This car was rumoured to have 220 HP. Guess not. They really dumbed it down for the masses. Kind of disappointing... the concept version was promising.

well see I used to like to sorta slouch down low and have my legs straight out in my old 90 Camry, but the dash/console design in my Accord doesn't give me enough knee clearance / leg room to do that. I can, but then I have to move my legs in further than "natural" and then they rub on the steering wheel - another no-no. So I need to sit more upright and with my legs further apart so that my right knee actually goes out into the center console area, with just an inch or two of clearance spare with my knee and the center stack.

My legs aren't just long, I also have an extremely HUGE/wide frame as well (6'3", 270lb, 40x34). Most people think I played football or something...

I'm a tough fit in cars, and I fit the best in the Accord, 2nd best in a Camry (but probably 1st best in the new 02 Camry, too bad the new camry sucks!) and I fit the worst in a Maxima (which is too bad because I really love the Max! )

2 cents

Grandma is that you? I could have sworn I saw blue hair over the steering wheel. That car is totally feature-less. No fender flares, decent body lines, or anything that stands out from the crowd. I'll keep my max and the v6.

ZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Just what we need, another boring looking, 4 door, snoozerama sedan If thats the best Toyota can do in the styling department I predict Altima sales are going to be quite healthy. And while some may say the Maxima has an ugly rear-end at least it garners attention. The new Camry certainly won't! Unfortunately, despite my opposition to its bland styling they'll still sell a crap load of cars just because its a Camry.
