The transmission cooler install is not overly complicated. There are several manufacturers and models to choose from in this area. Anybody with common hand tools could do the transmission cooler install. There are a few write-ups laying around describing the process. I recently installed a Hayden 403. I think I paid more than $40...more like $60, but I also purchased an extra section of "Hayden" brand transmission cooler hose.

I can not speak for the oil cooler, but from what I have heard about this add-on is that it is expensive, not to mention our cars already have one (I think).

I was going to order a cooler out the Summit Racing catalog. I went with Hayden because (1) Most people here have them (2) The local Pep Boys had them on the shelf (3) I have not seen another brand on the shelf in a local store.

It'll help cool down your tranny fluid, which is good.

There is no performance difference. It is more or less insurance. Maybe later in the car's life it will still shift smoothly since the coolant was kept cooler, resulting in less damage to the transmission. But, it will not shift faster or improve anything immediately.
