Searching high and low.... I found some mpeg clips of a Greddy exhaust on a Lexus IS300. For all you Greddy owners out there.... does this sound anything like your Max?

Check them out...

Hmmmm..... in person, the GReddy on the IS doesn't sound deep. It sounds like a Civic, but not raspy.

How do I know? I installed it on Jane's brother's IS 2 weeks ago.

I REALLY hope your Max's don't sound like that.

I personally don't think that sounds good at all! I really hope the Maxima Evo system sounds better.

Side not: Everyone seems more concerned about the Greddy sound and looks rather than any performance gains? Myself personal in the case of a cat back performance has to be number one by far. Still hope to see some before and after dynos on a 5th gen Max.

I feel you... performance is very important to me as well. However, seeing as how I use my Maxima as a daily driver, I have to also be concerned about what kind of noise I'm going to be waking up to EVERY morning.... especially when you spend as much time in the car as I do (Example: Roadtrips).

Hopefully, I will make it down to the DYNO this weekend to do a preliminary run BEFORE installing the Greddy.

I would really love to here a Max with a y pipe and a Evo.
Can anyone post something like that??? PLEASE???

I don't know why, but we've been making fun of him ever since his Rod Millen intake. Every power mod he has makes him sound more like a Honda.

on the sound. I6 vs. V6 configuration?

shouldn't matter.... in fact, aren't I6 engines more responsive to tuning than the conventional V6?

Catbacks account for almost ZERO (that's right I said zero) performance gains. You might see a 2-5 hp gain when switching to a Greddy catback in a 5th Gen maxima if you are lucky. The only reason I can see for getting an after market catback system, such as Greddys, is for looks and sound because the 5th Gen muffler is already pretty free flowing. Just my .02 & no flames intended. Good luck.
