I have a 2001 SE and am wondering if any of you are having the same problem I am. I've had the car about six months and I can't believe the number of chips (from stones etc.) I have on the hood. So far, I've counted about ten. Anyone else noticing problems with the paint job? The crazy thing is that I can't recall ever having a stone hitting the front end.

Welcome to the Club...

Bob, basically everyone has this issue. Do a search on paint chips and you'll see the archives on this topic. Unfortunately it looks like Nissan cheezed us out with the paint jobs. It's just something that you have to deal with. You could get a bra but thats another story with discoloration after time.

Hey Bob what color do you have? Seems to affect the darker colors more than lighter ones, I'd recommend the windeflector over a car bra. Doesn't discolor the paint after time and looks better anyway (IMO)

I bought a colgan custom bra for my 01 SE. I am careful about taking the bra off after it rains and that will help with the discoloring. Anyway the bra is a good way to hide any paint chips/scratches on the front of the car...just my opinion.

The color I have is Sterling Mist. The Maxima replaced an a nine year old Saab with about 3 paint chips. It's just a little surprising.

Yeah paint chips suck. I would have to agree, the darker the vehicle the more noticeable the chips and dings and what have you. Think deflector or bra.
