anyone know what the 0-60, and quarter mile times are for the 2002 maxima, say one today and its not a great difference to my 2000 se. I haven't had a chance to test drive it,i really want to test drive the 6 speed not an automatic so i'll wait.I'm definetly waiting to see what the redesign looks like hopely it gets 280 to possible 300 hp like the new Z,I hope nissan dosen't screw up and make the maxima tooooo big.If all goes well i'll trade my 2k in at that point,if not i'll be looking else where.I love my maxima and hope they don,t turn into grandma cars.anyone else out there feel the same way? but i'm going to think possitive 280+ hp sweet.

I just picked mine up today, estimating/judging between my old 01 and my 02. I would say it is about 1 to 1.5 sec or so quicker to 60 as it pulls hard from a stop all the way to redline. the tranny shifts so much smoother the jerkiness seems to be gone. Judging by the auto the 6spd should be very quick.

smooth.. do you mean it lags?? i never really had a "jerk" in my auto, except it lags, and then it "jerks".. so maybe it lags even more?!

The lag is what I am referring to Azn thanks for the correction, no the 02 shifts way smoother no noticeable lag in mine. Although it does feel a little floatier on the highway vs the 01.

When you refer to shifts smoother, is it a less of a kick in the a** than a 01 or a more lux pull were there is a smoother transition between gears? also why would it "float", is isn't the same all a round as an 01 (e.i. suspension) except for the 255hp.

Auto or 6spd? I whould think that a 6spd whould be good for 0-60 in 6.0 seconds flat maybe 6.1.

g dogg, the 2002 should infact handle better becuase of larger anti sway bars.

OT,
I personaly can't wait until the G35 is available! I want one so bad.

A smoother transition between the gears, and when you punch it you feel less of a down shift vs the 4th gen 00 and 01's. yes to me it feel more floaty on the highway, not a taut as the 00 and 01 (firm).

It has to be the six-speed but they did not specify which model was tested. (Automobile Magazine Pg. 86 September 2001)
