Hi folks,

I don't yet own a car, but my criteria is simple: Japanese, V6, 5-speed manual transmission. It would seem that the Maxima is the only vehicle that meets this criteria. With anything else (Accord, Camry, etc) the V6 only comes in automatic.

I'd like to be able to tow a fairly light 8-foot tent-trailer. Nowadays they weigh in at about 1500 pounds. This is why I'd prefer a manual transmission, as they're more suited to towing than automatics. I feel a V6 engine is also more prudent for this purpose.

Now, I know that *technically* the maximum towing allowance for a uni-body vehicle such as the Maxima is limited to 1000 pounds. But are there many people who have installed a hitch to their Maximas and have towed in excess of 1000 pounds with few problems?

Maxima towers, please let me know how capable you feel the Maxima is at towing loads in excess of the 1000 pound limit. What are your experiences, issues, problems, successes in this regard.

Thanks,
Parker
