Hi all

I'm new to the import sports car world and I'm not failure with what types of mods are being done on these machines. I have the new 3.5L 255hp V6 in a 2002 SE and would like to know what's the most effective mods to do first, exhaust, intake, chips, etc. Any help would be welcomed.

lucky you

well most of us still have the 2001 at best, so you are going to have to wait a while for the mods i believe. but you can check with stillen, they have lots of mods for maximas and if the 2000-01 have compatible mods you can use those or else you have to wait. but most of us go with intake first, then exhaust, and then y-pipe for performance. for suspension you can get front strut bar, rear strut bar, and rear anti-sway bar. hope that helps you out. welcome to the board.

Well, I'm not sure that is the right order. Y-Pipe is the best bang for the buck performance mod. The intake is second and the exhaust is third and it gives fairly small gains.

Right now, no one has checked to my knowledge but the intake (especially pop charger intakes like Stillen) should fit. However, the current y-pipe may well fit the 2002. As I understand it, the 3.5 has the same block as the 3.0. I would think that Nissan would have tried to keep the entire exhaust/manifold system the same to save production costs. If that's the case the I would suspect that the current y pipe fits. Just depends on whether Nissan changed anything.

Someone needs to experiment . . . hint hint.

wrong.
I think the 2000 maxima is one of the 5th gens around. even though we have had our share of problems we are still one ill machine

For performance as well get the y pipe first, then intake, and then muffler and what not.

For suspension get springs first to stop 90% of the cars body roll. Then the rear sway then the front strut bar.

Happy hunting

The 2000-2001 Stillen FSTB may not fit on the 2002's. When I looked at the engine bay it had some cast parts on top of the engine which may interfere with the bar. I don't remember but that was definetly different. Maybe those parts did not go that far back to get in the way. I would think the Stillen RSB would fit. The car looks identical (dimension wise), almost, except for the engine bay setup.

i didn't say the intake was the best bang for the buck, i just said that you should get the intake for the engine to breathe better, before you put on a free flow y-pipe , it would give you better gains.

get an intake if it'll fit, and then go custom... custom bpipe, and try a 2001 aftermarket maxima exhaust.. it should fit.. but try the intake and the custom b pipe, and remove the cat where the y pipe usually makes it go away and you should see gains
