5th gen, noisy engine?....

5th gen, noisy engine?....
i dont know why i'm posting this now, i should have posted this a while ago, but anyways, is the 5th gen max engine suppose to be noisy? i dont have any mods, but i was at a light yesterday, next to a riced civic(i think it was more show then go), the guy revved his engine a bit, i guess he wanted to race, but there was much distance between the lights, but i gave him a run anyways. before i get to rev my engine, the light turns green, so i punch it, the tires chirped, and i was off, the guy was close. i only got up to like 55, cause the next light was close and red. when i stopped, the guy pulled up next to me, my windows were rolled down(nice day), anyways, the guy asks, "what do you have in the engine?", i said "nothing", then he said, "why is the engine so load?", i just shrugged my shoulders, but then i thought about it, "is my engine loud?" i can hear my engine, when the windows are rolled up, even at low rpm's, like 2000-3000rpm. i'm gonna test drive some 2k, 2k1 max's, compare a little. any ideas, i didn't drive hard at break in, i still dont drive hard( much

its all in my head...
i went to a nissan dealership today, and i drove several 2k and 2k1 max's, and they seem to have the same sound, the 2k1 was a bit louder for some reason, but again, its probably in my head.

my engine and car gets soo loud when i gun it...when i stop the car and leave the car to idle, i can't hear the engine anymore...it's just like Lexus!!!

Mine use to be quiet and now it is actually much louder. Loosing up I guess making it louder?

although at idle the car's quiet inside, outside it's less so..
