Wheel locks

How many people here believe in wheel locks/use them? I don't want to alarm the NY guys and I won't say where it happened but this past weekend 2 guys I know with 6's found there cars on crates. WTF

The cops told him they are seeing a trend and don't know the reasons behind the theft yet. My guess is older gens/others are stealing the 5th gen wheels just for the look???? Damn suxness.

You guys watch out!

Where can I get a set? How much do they cost?
Thanks

For anyone out there with the nissan OE set for 17"
Are the OEM ones from nissan for the 17" worth it?

Hehe...I'm sure they would have just found it in the glove box...since that's where most people put them. But if you have it somewhere else, then we got a problem...

you can get it in

American tires if you are in CA area... they quoted me... 55 dollars for the whole set.... that's lock on every lug nuts, not just one out of five.... pretty good deal if you ask me..

From what I've heard, dealers have lots of wheel keys or they have master keys. The dealer can take off any wheel lock you may have.

You are correct. The dealers have a set of each of the wheel lock keys. There are only so many, I figure no more than 10 or 12 different sets max. Last time I was at the dealership for maintenance, they actually asked for my wheel lock key, cuz the same key of theirs was damaged/stripped. That's how I found out that they had em. It would probably be beneficial if everyone had at least an additional set of wheel locks, besides just the factory ones. You never know, someone (shady) at the dealership could "borrow" one of the keys that he knows would match your car from checking it out in advance. Then you can say bye bye to your rims. Just my .02 cents. I'm either getting one of those sets that replaces every lug with a wheel lock or I'm gonna get 4 additional sets to add to the ones I've already got. Peace.

I've always thought about getting some if I got aftermarket rims. Any other reccomendations for brands and where to get them besides American Tires.

If there is a safty devise on any car there has to be a way to get it off right? Cuase if you mess up and lock your keys in the car lose them or somthing don't you have to get in...well if you loose the lock to the wheels don't you at some point have to take them off... to any control devise there has to be a way around it so theifs just have to get it.

Max2000: Do I read your post correct, it comes with a one to one lug replacement @ $55?

That would work out at little over $2 per lug($55/25 lugs). Damn!
I'm gonna visit Pepboys tomorrow. Hope my wheels hide tonight maybe
I'll just sleep in my 6?

Thanks

Re: Re: pepboys have them...

Yes.. you did read it correctly... but that's not from Pepboys... it's from American Tires... I was surprise how cheap it is.. consider that 4 locks cost you something like 20 bucks already... they had to special order it.. but I think it will be nice to have all the lug lock.. at least it will take them a little longer to get it off!
