2001 Maxima SE vs......

Hey guys. I would like to know who would win the following races if the drivers were equal in skill and the cars were stock:

2001 Maxima SE 5spd or Auto vs. 2001 Lexus IS 300 (auto)
" " vs. 2001 Honda Prelude (5spd)
" " vs. 2001 Honda Accord 3.0 EX
" " vs. 2001 Jetta GLX (5spd)
" " vs. 2001 Audi A4 AWD Quattro Sedan 2.8 5sp
" " vs. 2001 BMW 330 4dr Sedan I 5sp.

Just something I was pondering as I was driving home in my Max. Let me know who would win in a head to head race vs. the Max and who would win if all the cars raced at once (list the finishing order) Thanks.

I'd say Accord will be the slowest-from personal experience. Maxima will loose to BMW 330. And to my opinion, a tie-up w/others.

To what speed or to what distance are the cars going to race? 0-60, 0-100, 1/8 mile, 1/4 mile? Concrete numbers can be found for those.

Maxima will beat all those cars. The only one it will have trouble with is the 330 BMW.

The BMW 330 isn't all that fast.

The maxima will beat all of those, but the 330 will kill the maxima. My friend's mom has a 2001 330i sedan automatic and i am afraid to race that thing on the highway. BMW's are FAST!!!

330i is 6.1/14.8@95.

Only modded 5spds are going to be able to run with it.

A 5spd would beat the rest of the ones you listed fairly easily.

The 330 has equal times to us, It is not any faster.

People can list times ALL DAY, but it doesn't mean cr@p. Until you run one you just won't know. I personally have experienced that a 5-speed 5th gen will beat the 330 in the 1/4 dash, but line them up at 70 mph, and the 5th gen will only see the bimmers rear end.

Well, I pulled those numbers off Car and Driver. Those are faster than any max test numbers I've seen. What do you base your claim that the 330 has equal times on?

OK - here we go again. Look, a good basis upon which to compare cars is their 0-60/1320 et and mph. It is a yard-stick, that gives good performance data about the capabilities of a car when driven by a good driver. So, they mean something. When comparing two vehicles and asking which vehicle is faster - it is as good as any other measure.

Now, take those numbers and throw in the common variables and, of course, in a race the vehicle with the slower times can, and often times does, win.

The guy asked that we ASSUME equal driver skill and stock cars. From those numbers, it is a bit of an uphill battle for a stock 5spd max - capability wise - against the 330i.

Certainly, a better driver in the max will take the 330i. Hell, we have 5spd drivers on this forum who post questions showing they have no clue how to drive their cars. There are probably just as many, or more, bimmer drivers who do the same.

From a standstill a 330 will slightly pull on a 5 speed Maxima...From a highway roll, bye bye maxima.

Yup. I gotta second that one. Toyotas are SLOW! When I was looking at the Max initialy I tested an SE 5spd V6 Camry. Heck, the auto Max would waste that car!

Disclaimer: Yes, I know Supras are fast. Duh.

about the 330Ci...its a 40,000 dollars car....you can't compare it with a 27,000 dollars car...its just better that's it....a maxima can't beat all cars...a modded 5sp with a good driver will have a hard time staying with a 330ci...so if the 330ci was a skilled driver...you can say bye bye to the maxima

IMHO the Prelude and a IS300 5spd will be good competition to a 2000 max.

I raced my friend's AE 5spd Max with my Celica and it was a tie to 60mph when we were both stock. neither of us were very good drivers back then. Now I got I/E and he is stock and we are both better. We're planning on running several times someday. I'll post results

beat every car on your list except for the 330i...never really had a chance to race one...every time i see this car, it's always driven by some chick or old granpas...or people talking on their cell and too busy to pay attention to the road!!
