2k SE - New Owner
Just picked up a 2000 SE for $20k from a local dealer last monday. Had 6400 miles without a noticible scratch on it, black w/blond interior, very clean. My question concerns what options it came with. It has an Auto Tranny, Power Sunroof, power driver's seat, integrated Homelink transceiver, and variable intermittent windshield wipers. Which if I look up on Edmund's site equals the comfort and convience package. However, it has the 16 inch rims on it w/H rated tires. Does this mean that someone swapped the rims/tires before I got it, or could you get the above options without getting the comfort and convience package? Also, after driving it for a week I think that it has the TCM problem, very hard shift sometimes from 1st to 2nd. And, can anyone tell me how much it costs to get an additional key cut/coded for this car? Thanks for any info on this.
Congrats on your new ride. The 17" rims had late availability indicating that your car is among the first built. Unfortunately, this guarantees your trans prob and you need to get that fixed or you will soon hate your car. Don't know anything about the key, sorry. Hope you enjoy you car.
If you have 16's it's an early one, in July and August of '99 thy started selling the 2k Max. but the 17's weren't available until September and come w/ the C & C package. Can't help w/ the auto tranny woe's, some of the auto guys will know more. The key's are not cheap. and, Welcome to the club!
Thanks for the quick replies. I am dropping it back on Tuesday for the detailing they promised as well as to get the tranny looked at. Overall, I am very impressed with this car. The sad thing is that I picked it up for the wife as she does the most driving during the week (I work out of the house with an average of 1 day travel (by Air) during the week). However, even though it's her's, I have fallen in love with it. Have been a nissan owner 3 times now since 1989, and never been disappointed. Our other vehicle is a '94 Pathfinder w/some performance mods. So, I am already looking at what can be done to the Max. Will have to keep it on the QT though as the wife is already driving me crazy with her "slow down" comments every few seconds.
hmmmm...
hard shift? that means you prolly have the new TCM. If rather than a firm shift, you feel something like youre on a log flume and a big wave pushes you from behind, then thats slippage and it needs the new TCM. The damage is caused from not shifting up (1-2 second delay), rather than a firm postive up shift.
I think a key is about $100-125 (with coding). yeah, really expensive.
I agree on the wheels.
