30k mile maintenance service?
30k mile maintenance service?
Could you please give me an idea how much it costs for the 30k miles maintenance service. I was quoted a price of $475 from one dealer and $190 from a different dealer. What's the average price for this and is it necessary?

Don't listen to any dealers, you don't need to buy a whole package. Refer only to you owners manual schedule on what is required, that's what you need to have done. Dealers make $$ on selling fuel-additives and other crap that they include in the 30K, 60K etc service. You will need only a few items done, which shouldn't cost more than 50-60 bucks.
exactly...
really.. almost everything besides air filter and oil change are 'inspect' only. If you *must* take it to a dealer, ask them what they plan to do and ask why they are wanting to charge so much to 'inspect'. rattle off some of the things the manual says under the service schedule. they will know you are not going to be easily tricked into paying more than necessary. (ok, they will probably try anyway, but keep your manual handy)

i just did the 30k maintenance
When I brought my max to the dealer to do the 30k service, after few hours. They called me and said the "V" belt need to be replace, and the rear brake pads too. So, I asked why change the V belt so soon, they said they saw some crack on the belt so u need to change it. If not when it break in the future, that's cost more.
So, I replaced the belt and the rear brake pads.
brake pads= $110
v belt = $95
Total cost = $575

uhhh
V belt? you'd have to *show* me that belt before I'd spend that money, that belt should last at least 60K. Also, rear pads? *if* they were worn that bad, stop driving with the emergency brake on, or you need to have that looked at. the rear should last longer than that...
I could see those things under extreme conditions, and yes, they should be checked.. but that just seems excessive for a 30K checkup.

sheesh V-belt cracked at 30K miles??? must be replaced under the wtty!! free of charge! at 30K miles you can only change your air filter(can do it yourself and save a few bucks) If they tell you smthg is wrong, you can take your car anywhere, just keep your receipts for new parts. If dealers give you B.S. always ask to see the damage.
