Got me a GS-T!

I know, I was pretty suprised. I was cruising down Northampton Blvd., basically a 6 lane highway, when at the last light before a LONG stretch, a convertible GS-T comes flying up next to me, and damn near went into the intersection. That's how I saw the GS-T on the back. I go fairly easy when the light turns green, with him accelerating a little faster, and I give it a little extra gas to tempt him. I pull up to him about 30 or so and he dropped it into 2nd (guessing from the 30mph) and gunned it. I gunned it and what happens? My GD auto tranny drops into second at like 3200rpms. ****! He starts to pull on me and gets up to where I'm at his door when finally I start to get into some decent rpms and started to ever so slowly pull back on him. I didn't pass until 80 but by then I was starting to gain on him pretty good (barely is pretty good when racing a GS-T IMO... ) By 100 I was a carlength ahead and shut it down. Not suprisingly, he does the ricer fly-by but he actually slowed down a few sceonds later. I got up to him at about 65 (sweet spot for the auto since it still drops into 2nd) and he gunned it again. This time I pulled on him pretty good from the get-go and shut it down at 110 (stupid, I know, but there wasn't anyone in front of us yet) and a couple car lengths later. I'm pretty sure it was a legit GS-T since an RS or GS wouldn't have been able to keep up at all. I remember those things running well into the 14's in the 1/4, so I thought he would have a decent chance of beating me, especially with the 5spd. Oh well, I wanted a decent kill for once and I finally got it tonight!

Mine usually won't unless I'm below 30. I was already going a little faster than 30 when he finally punched it. Damn, there's gotta be some kinda of TCM mod out there to take care of this!

Just wait until you get the 5spd swap, then you'll be posting kills more often.

When you guys race like this, are you on a street or the freeway or what? 100-110 on a street sounds ridiculous to me, but you never can tell with you craxy Maxima drivers.

Man, I don't think I've gotten a single any kill...so sad. Should I like give other drivers "the stare" or something to get them to race me?

Probably a Mitsubishi Eclipse Turbo version (pre-2000 model). A friend of mine has one, not the convertible though. Has 217HP in the turbo version.

Yeah 95-99 Eclipse Turbo front wheel drive. Last I remember the Eclipse came with 210 hp where'd you get 217hp

Grrrr....5spd swap so far equals major $$$ and major PITA. I'm going with the VB for the time being until I decide how much I wanna dump into the tranny.

No, I wouldn't go 100+ on a city street. This is actually a 6-lane divided highway, and while it does somewhat run through the city, there's no sidestreets for a good distance, barriers on both sides, and the speed limit is 65. Since it's not a frequently traveled part of the road, it's also a popular place for the occasional race, for obvious reasons.

110mph on Northhampton Blvd. is a bit risky. Too many soccer moms & cops.
Surprised you didn't take it onto the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, the $10 would be worth it for a 17 mile run.

That guy had either a RS or GS. Those things are good for 140hp and engine was designed and built by chrysler.

It's the other way around. Chrysler uses Mitsu engines and Mitsu chassis in their [Chrysler/Dodge] cars. It's been like that for a while.

You're right, I checked Carpoint and all the Turbo models have 210HP. My friend must have been mistaken. His GS-T is stock.

Carpoint also says it weighs about 2970lb for the manual. We should be able to beat these cars, right?
