Fog Light Bulb Size

I would like to change the factory fog lights on my 2001 Max to a super white Piaa bulb. Does anyone know what size bulb I need?

Thanks.

PIAA Xtreme White H3 is a good fit with HID headlights. It's only 55W but can generate 110W of brightness.

Hey PoLo,

In your second picture you have the parking lights and the fog lights on without the headlights. On my car the fog lights only come on when the headlights are on. How did you get yours to do that?

Your corner bulbs (168/194 5W wedge bulb) look much better than my PIAA Xtreme White. Mine look kind of blue-ish, almost purple and do not match the factory HIDs very well. I like how the Super Plasma ones match the HIDs.

gimme torque: believe me, they don't look as good as the picture shows...still not as bright, although they do match. i'm goin LED Wedge next. i can say though that i feel the Super Plasma's Match better than the Xtreme Whites.

TonyVQ: i had to rewire my fogs so that the signal wire (previously wired to the headlights) were wired to my parking (clearance) lights. this way the fogs turn on with my cornes. it's actually VERY VERY easy to do, and took me about half hour (only cause i wanted a neat job, so i took my time).
this site should explain to you how to do it:
http://www.5thgenmaximas.com/fogrewire.html

now, if you have a 2k2, instead of wiring it to your turn signal, just tap it into your parking light. there are 2 wires coming out of your parking light. a black (ground) and some other color. you want it tapped into that other color.
if you're in NY, i'll be more than happy to help. i actually have to help DevenStickMax(or whatever his name is) wire his up, so if you need help, lemme know.

peace.

i have the super plasma wedges but they don't match up that well. light isn't as strong so you don't get the intense "white" of the hid/fog. i just ordered a pair of supposedly insanely bright LED wedge bulbs...if it matches, then i am safe in saying that the IDEAL/PERFECT match on 2k2's is super plasma fogs with super bright LED's. we'll see when they arrive.

btw, who makes ther leds?

supposedly, LED's dispense close to NO heat. they draw even less power. remember, it's a diode, so not like your'e generating a light, it's emitting it (Light Emitting Diode =) )and isnt' that the reason some lights blink faster, cause it's sending such little power. less power should equal less heat release.

the LED's are from a company i know of that claims they're LED's are the brightest. i'm gonna test them out first and then post a review. i don't want anyone to waste their money. if they are good, then i'll mention it. super white wedge bulbs vary from $12-$16. these LED's were priced to me at ONLY $1.59 each ($3.18 a pair)....
if it even comes CLOSE to super white wedge, then it's still worth it. and if they are good, think how many wedge bubls we got and how many people have spent $$$ for piaa's or raybrigs, etc...

when they come in, my review will come out.

I have the super plasm and they are much 'whiter' than the xtreme white. plasm does have a bit of a purple tint though

didn't really order them yet....calling up the company this morning to ask about some fitment issues...does ANYONE know if T3-1/4 are the same as our wedge bulbs. this is how the company describes their LED's. once i find out that info, which is why i'm calling them, i'm gonna order a buncha bulbs. i'm also jumpin in on the deal with a friend of mine. at $1.59 per bulb, i am not paying $5 flat for shipping. most likely ordered today, early afternoon, so as they can be shipping by this afternoon and arrive early next week.

ooh, i forgot to update...well after talkin to the company, i found out that the bulbs are only 6.5mA, strong, but not nearly as strong as what would match with an HID. prolly match up with a stock wedge bulb....what they did offer for my project was one of their higher current LED's, not bulbs. i'm gonna try to to wire these LED's to a resistor and mount the on a wedge housing bracket...if that successfully works, then we'll see...i really havent' had time since i work too much to even think about it, but believe me, it's something that will get done since the different shade of light is ****ing me off. i've been distracted since i've been concentrating on my alarm, but this LED will be done soon...winters coming and it's gonna be too cold to work on the car.

well, you're in LA, and the only good deal i'd have for you is a local guy that does sick installs for a REAL good price. the only thing i could try to suggest is check the GROUP DEAL forum. there's a deal in there for the new viper alarms for $450. only disadvantage is you're not covered under warranty cause viper is only a professional install and is not sold over the counter. my installer is authorized, so you get the full warranty. us NJ/NY folk are so lucky =)

as far as the bulbs, yes i hae the same problem. from straight, as you can see on my sig, they blend nicely. but from the side, they look freakin weak as hell. this LED project should improve from all around. again, when i have a chance, i'll update the list. i've been doing a lot of OT at work these past couple weeks, so i've been a bit too busy.

thanks to tell you the truth, a friend of mine installed them for me and he had a hell of a time doing it.. he said there's lots of hitting, prying, and frustration involved

they've been in there for probably close to a year now with no problems.

For Anyone that was waiting for an update on my custom LED job, i dropped it.....switching to a different setup completely. if you still wanna wait, i'm gonna wok on this new project this weekend and into next weekend. what i can say is:

1)i'm not happy with any super bright parking bulbs, no matter what brand. at only 5 watts, they will not produce a strong enough light, no matter what kind you have.

2)LED bulbs are the way to go. at an average price of about $10/pair, that's not too bad and the light output is much stronger, w/out putting a drain on the stock wire harness. remember, LED's dont' require hardly any energy to produce light. so thumbs up on that.

ok, so if anyone was really waiting on any progress from me, it ended before it even started....sorry

peace,
