RSB off...car handles better?

Lately I've been noticing a clunking noise from the back of the car when I would corner at any kind of decent speed, so today when I was getting my oil changed I asked the mechanic if I could take a look at the RSB and adjust it if necessary. What I found was two of the bushings on the brackets holding were split in 3 places and basically falling apart. I took the thing off since I was already tired of the damn thing hitting the ground if I had a carload of people and this didn't reinforce my opinion of it any. I never really noticed a difference in the first place, but on my way home I took my usual route, and decided to push it a little and see if I could tell it was gone. Well, I could, but I was able to corner better than I was with it on, and got the opposite result that I expected. I took it for a spin on some of the curvier roads around and confirmed it. I had the Addco RSB, so I'm wondering if maybe that's what made the difference. Everyone always talks about how much better the car handles with it on, but maybe it's the Stillen one that makes a difference. Any thoughts?

Another member had clunking noises as well. But we found the problem in time. I would NEVER take off my RSB. I love it too much.

No, it's pretty much a no-brainer, and the brackets only fit in one spot and the bar can only go on one way. But the Addco RSB is from the 4G Max's and as a result I don't think it'll do much for the 5G's.

4thgen & 5thgens use the same type of bar, bushings, braces, brakets..... The only thing they changed from the earlier versions are the bushing, but it's only to make the installation easier. I don't know how your car handles better without the rsb.
My car was lowered before installing the rsb and it made a nighte & day difference after the RSB!!! The body roll was almost completely elimated.
BTW.. If your rear beam is hitting the floor everytime your car is packed, you might wanna get that checked out... I bottom out occasionally, especially with added extra weight but the only time I hit the floor is when I run over deep potholes or steep curves.

it is a very good mod, i haven't had any problems with the RSB, but i do notice a little clunking noise with the stillen one. it doesn't clunk every time, just sometimes when i make a right or go over a bump. do any of you have a problem with the stillen rsb, and how can i adjust it?

Clunk

Ya, I get the clunk also with my Stillen bar.Only seems to happen on the right side, with a load,or cornering and hitting a bump or pothole.

I've gotten a clunk only once, when backing out of my driveway into the street (maybe I went over a curb??). It hasn't recurred, though, and my Stillen RSB is my friend, too.

depends on the driver too. Some drivers LIKE body roll, it sometimes gives the impression that it handles better or is more predictable.

handling is almost completely driver biased.

I tend to love off-throttle over-steer... others don't.

He probably just got more confidence, took the corner faster, braked better, accelerated earlier.

I too hear a clunking noise from time to time. i tried to adjust the bar but it did not help. i noticed that the bar hits my rear axel. i think that is what is making the noise. No idea how to fix it though. I have a stillen RSB.
