Tranny Flush... found a problem

I took it to AAMCO for a special they had on a tranny flush and asked them to check it out first. They said the computer came back with a code and they can't do the flush until the part is fixed.

They mentioned a solenoid I believe it was but said on our cars they can't replace one that all four need to be replaced? I don't remember which one he said it was bad but the whole thing costs like 400 bux from them and I think that is really high for that part.

I am not sure what the part is but I know it controls 4 parts electronically he said. Has anyone else had this problem and if so what do you do to fix it?

That is a soleniod pack (4 of them) on the valve body.

There was a good URL on some one actually replacing it -- you will have to drop the pan, remove the VB using some fuzzy dance (in terms of order of bolts to remove VB off the tranny) and then replace the soleniods.

The removal of the valve body is outlined in the FSM in the automatic transaxle section pages 291 to 293. It shows the specific bolt order to remove the valve body and how to remove the solenoids. A few pages later it shows a breakout of the valve body parts to give a clearer picture of where the solenoids are in relation to the valve body.

I can't recall the exact price, but the solenoid pack themselves run around $150. Installing them yourself is not that complicated, you just need to keep track of all the bolts and DO NOT loose the o-ring for the solenoids. Or you can purchase new o-rings to install. But if they are seated in place I wouldn't mess with them, you have a chance to knick or roll them and if you do that your solenoids will crap out.

Here is a link to where you can download the specific pages outlining the replacement of the solenoids. I uploaded it to that site so you can download.
