hmm..maybe paint the "wilwood" black on the red calipers

I just don't want to go through the hassle of shipping again and waiting for another set.

Damn I'm lazy

the red does bring attention to the fact that they are aftermarket. black will blend in more.

but...did you buy them for looks? or performance?

both I guess....Actually I just bought them so I wouldn't have to mess with the z32 setup any more. I'm not all that concerned with looks one way or the other, hence why I can't decide if the hassle is worth getting the black ones.

I have the laptop out in the garage on wireless right now while I'm online. I'm also doing some work on the GT6 right now and saw a spare spindle/rotor assembly sitting on the floor, so figured I'd tryi it.

The GT6 already has 2-piston calipers up front that are pretty good, but they're heavy as hell.

Personally, I'd put the red ones on, (I like them more ) but knowing your style I think I'd wait for the black ones.

Come on man, have some patience and get it done the way you want it!

what size are the rotors? If they are 13"s will they work with the 17's?

screw it....I'm not dealing with shipping etc.

solution: black spray caliper paint. A few light coats. q-tip dipped in mineral spirits to bring the lettering back to the pearl finish. From the front they look black, and from certain angles they have a hint of red to them still. The finish looks like factory, and will be covered in brake dust soon enough anyhow. they're not bright red now.

done and done. thanks for the comments gents.

here's a lousy pic.

nah, just don't care enough to deal with the hassles. They still look 100x better than my beat-up z32 calipers with the smushed "NI" in "NISSAN"...

Now how did that happen? How come your calipers are booty compared to mine? Mine are cool.

because whoever owned them before me (junkyard or previous owner) used a clamp to compress the pistons when changing pads and since the lettering is aluminum it got all smushed down.

At least, that's what I'm guessing happened.

hohohoho, that makes. If I could do it over again, I'd probably get Q45 calipers.

I prefer the sleeper look as well!

Can someone explain to me the advantage of 2-piece rotors...if there IS any?

Nice piece of Kit, there Irish!

esp with your setup black is better than race red, but that is very interesting seeing an off red.

I am painting mine black in the next 10 days.
I got a lil kit with from peeboys
It has a brush and its not spray so hopefully it may be easier in some ways than taping everything.

HOME DEPOT FTW!

You spray painted it with high heat. Correct?

A little off topic, but why'de you change from the 6th gen upgrade? Needed the extra squeez?

you shoulda sent them back for the black ones....

the factory black coating may be ugly, but it's more thermally conductive than regular paint. it keeps the caliper cooler under heavy use.

eh...dunno. I like brakes. More worthwhile than something like a UDP or stereo stuff

so.....as it turns out, I talked to fastbrakes today. Funny story I guess.

It turns out that I wasn't supposed to get those calipers. Those specific calipers were sent out to the person (here on the org) who first tested the setup. He painted them red at a body shop. It turned out that the pistons were too small and resulted in rear bias and heavy pedal. So he sent them back (painted) and got a larger piston bore size.

Apparently, a warehouse guy sent the wrong ones, not knowing that they had updated the kit for a larger piston size.

So fastbrakes is sending me a new set next day air...in black...with a larger piston bore.

Will probably not get around to install until next week, so I'll let you guys know how they are.

Irish....do you think the stock 2003 17" wheel will have enough clearance with these Wilwood calipers installed?
