Annoying tick within engine

I have this tick thats noticable at idle and I don't think it's that big of a deal I was just curious. It occurs within what I believe to be the front (bumper side) middle bank cylinder (I forgot the cylinder order) and it's just like.. everytime that piston hits (or at least thats about how rapid it is) theres a little more distinctive tick, its louder than the rest of the idle, and just sounds like a tiny pebble being knocked around. I didn't know if something could be loose or what.. so I figured I'd ask. No performance issues yet either so it's just kind of annoying. Thanks

One valve with slightly more clearance than the others. "Disappears" above idle? Could be causing by a sticking valve caused by coke/carbon, but if it isn't causing a miss, I wouldn't get too excited yet unless it gets worse. Cam lobe/bucket(Gen.5 shim) wear could cause it. Doing regular oil changes? I doubt that it's a variation in injector noise, but they do "click".

That dont sound to good, I have a 2k max and i have the same issue, front bank, middle cylinder, can only hear it at idle and my gas mileage is starting to suck and my power is not as it used to be, the problem is, are you ready?

the wrist pin bearing on the upper connecting rod, it has to be replaced, also the cause is a spun crank bearing wich is not allowing oil to get to the wrist pin bearing because the hole in the center of the connecting rod is blocked and oil cant get up to it.

Its really hard to find parts to fix this, iam considering replacing the motor with a rebuilt one or a used one from ebay.

Is it the timing chain rattle? Mine does that at idle. Sounds similar to what you all are describing.

To be certain, remove the fuel injector connector in the middle while the car is running, <it wont toss a mil light> if it knocks really bad then thats is the issue as in my case, you can remove one at a time and replace it before removing the others. only when i remove the center one in the front i get a horrible clunking but when its plugged in, it just ticks or rattles like the op explained.

just the connector ? how would that make it tick MORE, wouldn't it eliminate it if it was indeed that injector because it would not be functioning?

If it ticks more or clunks with it removed you will hear a big diff, if no bearing prob excist you wont hear any clunking

I say start with the simplest and cheaper thing - check the spark plug and the coil.

you might have an exhaust leak possibly caused by either a cracked exhaust mainafold or missing 10 mil bolt that holds the heatshields.. Jack it up and have a look for all of them bolts to be in place and if there is any exhaust leak. You could plug your exhaust tubes and check for leak with your hand.

Get better gas. You're probably running 87 octane. Just ***** up and buy 91. It'll go away.

If it sounds like this faint ticking at the beginning of the video, then that's the sound you're hearing.

I've run 93 for the past 2 years and my 3.0 still has a slight tick to it.......not nearly as bad as the one in the video though.

I'm guessing MaxBoost925 was referring to spark knock, not to be confused with injector tick, nor rod knock.

Im not sure if this is the same but lately ive been hearing a sort of *whine* sound coming from the front passenger side. It gets louder if you get on the floor close to the wheel by the oil pan. Same thing or something different? I havent noticed any difference in performance but still...the sound is annoying.
