Bearings might be shot. It's a cheap part, and easy install, so if you have the time, replace it. Until then, hit it with some type of grease. Mine never shuts up so I've stopped hitting it with grease/oil.

Don't let that WD touch the belt. As far as I know it'll eat it away. Is replacing the tensioner a difficult job?

It's around $70 USD at stealership. You will need a good 14mm wrench; also prepare good access from the bottom of the car, i.e. remove protective shields from the wheel well. If not stucked, it should be pretty easy job.

@ 70USD. I got it for 40USD from Courtesy mind you. Of course, I didn't get the bracket, just the idler pulley assembly.

Unless your bracket is cracked/damaged in anyway, you should be fine with just the pulley.

It's another place. But you could also get it from DAVEB. In fact, I would suggest that over Courtesy.

www.pinnaclenissan.com has a good price on it too ($44 shipped)

I had this same sound and it basically sounds like a diesel engine. It's almost like a truck motor sound. When you step on the gas (@ low RPM around 2500) it would be non stop. There is no sound when you are driving however. You notice it strongly when you are parking or going at that speed. After replacing the Alternator Idler Pulley, the sound is completely gone!

I think replacing it would ultimately be the best.

Unfortunately i had no time to order it by mail. And yes, this was the pulley only. (California reality)
