So what cars can a Maxima (Automatic) actually "KILL"?

I am reading through posts and I hear about cars that Maxima can either lose to or just barely beat! So what I would like to know is that What cars (in its class) can a Automatic Maxima actually Kill?

Just so that I know what cars to mess with and what not to!

Oh, sorry didn't read that part. Here are some cars you'd rape:

Honda Accord 4 cyl, V-6

Toyota Camry 4 cyl, V-6

Mazda 626

Any Saturn

Ford Taurus

Well, those are some of the ones I can think of in your class. There are SOOOO many cars the Maxima can have, but those are all I can think of in it's class.

No prob.

Well, you do have a GLE, and no performance mods, which means you are a lil' chunkier (disadvantage) than other maxima's. The SHO's have some punch. Your 2k Max Auto doesn't redline like a 4th gen, that's the problem. If you knew how to manually shift (1st,2nd,D) then you could redline (I think). Anyways, you should be fine against a SHO.

And don't pay any attention to MedicSonic. He's just a grumpy computer-geek.

You might beat an automatic Taurus SHO, but you would never stand a chance against a 5spd.

I disagree. For the early SHO's the automatic came with a stroked 3.2 liter instead of the 3.0 liter to give it the extra ponies needed to keep up with it's manual brethren. Of course, the manuals are going to mod better, but in bone stock form they are pretty much dead even. The later sho's were only automatic V8s but were so terribly put together they were slow as all hell, slower than the eariler SHOs even.

Nope. See what I said for the Pontiac S/C below. It's the same car.

Ford: Taurus, Taurus SHO all 3.0, Contour SVT

Honestly don't know, but I doubt it.

Honda: Accord- 6 cyl models

Dead heat. Depends on the people and the specific cars.

Toyota: Camry 6 cyl models

Nope. Autos are dead even, and the 5-spds will run very low 15s stock. Their times and ours are almost exactly the same.

Pontiac: Grand Am 3.8 S/C

Not even close. These things will smoke us off the line.

BMW 3-series.

Maybe if you just mean 325i.

Acura TL-S, CL-S
Nope. In the interest of keeping things civil around here, at the very least they're dead even with us. Realistically they should beat a stock auto all the time.

Dunno if you were just listing cars in the Maxima's class or those we can beat, but there's more competition than most people think out there.

I only listed those in the Maxima class...but Maxima will kill most of them. Re: POntiac Gr Prix GTP (3.8 S/C) same as Buick Regal S/C, we had huge posts here that from 90 MPH Maxima should pull on them. Accord-if your engine runs smoothly, you woop any in stock form.
Re: Camry-they are not much quicker then Accords, but still you can do it if you put your mind into it. I beat 5spd Solara in my 5spd on hwy range 50-90mph. Some auotmagic people here messed with TL, right? Anyway, you got slow-*** cars, 'cause you can't beat us, 5spd Maximas. LOL

Yeah that's true, I was thinking from a stop. The 5th gen will have a big advantage at speed thanks to the intake manifold.

In my Accord V6 (with CAI and Denso Iridium plugs) I've "raped" a newer Ford Taurus with the Duratec V6 (200HP), and I've also top-ended a 00-01 Camry V6 (194 HP) without much problem. AV6's can also beat any GM car with the 3800SI engine, but the 3800SII equipped ones are tougher. They'll take us off the line but we'll still run them down in 2nd gear. Forget about the 3800SII/SC ones though from a stop. Might be closer from a roll. They have mad torque down low but still wheeze out on the top side.

The Max/auto is slightly faster than an Accord V6 but the performance is still very similar so the results for us should hold true for the above as well, although you guys should come a little closer to beating GTP's/GS's, etc...

Yeah, those Tauruses aren't all their HP figure says. My brother has one with the Duratec and it's a great highway car, but it's no stoplight competitor.

Assuming equal or better skill than the other driver, with a 2K2 Max Auto you should be able to smoke:

Audi A6 base (NOT 2.7T or 4.2, of course)
A4 1.8T, 2.8 (quattro=slow)
BMW 323i, 325i, 525i, 528i
Acura TL, CL base (type S should be a dead heat), Legend
V6 Camaros and Mustangs (maybe even the weak-a@# 215hp GT from the late '90s. Never tried it, might be fun)
VW-every model
All Hondas
All Pickups except F-150 Lightning (360HP! If they made it in a SuperCab, I'd buy one)
All SUVs, except maybe M55, and possibly the old 5.9 Grand Cherokee
Merecedes C240,320,CLK320, SLK230, E320

I believe if you do a custom order you can actually get whatever truck configuration you want but just with the Lightning engine in it... If you want a SuperCab, I think you can special order one with the Lightning engine. Check at your local Ford dealership

Well, you see... that all depends.. a 6spd 2k2 Maxima can take any of those... SO a 2k2 automatic maxima should at the very least be a very tight race..

an unmodded 2k, 2k1, automatic shouldn't bother... the prognosis for a stock manual is slightly better tho, i've seen plenty of modded max's on this board which could open up a can of some serious whoopass...
