Need some input please

I am a 4th gen owner looking for a few words of advice. I have an opportunity to purchase a 2000 max. auto. se silver for 5k. the car has 111k miles and the engine is in good condition. does this deal seem fishy or oddly priced. let me know please, i am willing to pull the trigger but my sig. other thinks that something is wrong. I drove the car briefly and did not notice anything wrong or odd. I will take it for another ride and confirm this with a mechanic, but what do you guys think?

Make sure to check coil packs ( always a problem with 5th gen), also ask owner if MAF has been changed
take it to a good mechanic and take it from there

Seems like a good deal. I've seen that year max with similiar mileage for around the same price. Does it have leather interior?

Here is a curve ball to the whole deal. This car is has a repair title. It was a stolen recovery. I drove is and from a dead stop the car changes gear at about 4k rpm to second gear. The timing seems off to me. I was not pushing the car hard at all. That worries me a bit. So most likely i wont buy it.

If you are looking around and find something you like and are ready to invest in the car why not take it to a dealer an pay them a 100 bucks and get it professionally checked out. It just better to what you are getting your self into.

I would pass at that mileage and the information that you learned later about it, there may be some other underlying issues that may creep up later. I recently found a white 01 cloth interior with 80k miles for $6900, so the price is about right, but if you look a little harder you can definitely find exactly what you want.
