window switch reset

Hey guys, I can roll the front passenger window down with my drivers side switch. But I can't roll it back up. I can hear a clicking noise on the passenger side when I attempt it, which makes me believe the window wants to go up but nothing happens. Will the reset procedure work for this or do I need a new window switch cluster?

I have the same problem on my 03 GLE. I found that wiggling the switch or pressing it to one side while pulling up on it will bring the window up. I suspect the master switch on the driver's side needs to be replaced but I'm too cheap right now.

@Stardust "will it roll up using the passenger side switch?"

If it's anything like my car then the answer should be yes, I have no problems rolling it up from the passenger side switch.

I'm having similar problems with the window control for a while. Only mine would roll up and automatically comes down 1/4. It only happens to the front passenger side. I have reset the passenger door like 4 times the past year and it will re-occur after a month or two. Weird.

Hi All,

1st post~ I'm having the opposite problem on my 2001... the driver's side switch will roll the passenger side window up, but the passenger side switch will not. Forgive the noob-ness, but what do you mean about resetting the switch, and would that apply to my issue?

Thanks!!!

NY'er

I think you guys should dry your switches, maybe they are in a bad connection.
Need to sand the pins maybe.

I had a problem with my driver side window not rolling back up. (The window was already all the way down)....It happened to be the master switch (~$120, plug & play install). Everything works perfectly.

The passenger side switch has a problem rolling the window down, but it works perfectly going up. It also works great from the driver's side master switch controlling the passenger side window, up or down.

I just tell whoever gets in my car to push the switch down couple times in a row.

Sorry to get out of hand but...

Another thing is that my windows used to roll up kind of slow....
This would happen if I had my stock stereo playing @ loud volume.

After changing the alternator, it helped a little bit but I can deal with it.

I think you need to replace the master switch (about $110)
