P0440 Evap Small Leak Code
P0440 Evap Small Leak Code
Could anybody provide any input in regard to this matter. This code popped up on my AE last week, car seems to be running just fine except for a rich smell of fuel.

you have a small leak in your evap system....
Check your gas cap...this is VERY common. take it off clean the sealing surfaces, make sure you do the three clicks etc.
otherwise there is about 20 things on the evap system that could be clogged leaky etc.
Try the cap, then let us know.

This code means, "Very Small leak in EVAP system"
I had this code on for a year and felt no diffrence in driving other than the light annoyed me. I took it to the dealership. They replaced the gas cap and the fuel canister, located behind the rear bumper, close to the fuel inlet tube. However, that didn't fix the problem. They had to smoke the whole fuel system to see where it leaks. And it was a small crack in a rubber hose. Check all of your hoses and tubes that are involed in fuel system. There could be a loose clamp too. Also, all of your clamp should be place 2mm from the end of tubes and hoses. Just take your time on ispecting everything. Or the most expensive option would be taking it to the dealership. It cost me $560, I got tired of ispecting every hose.
