Your sig literally made me swat my screen with a newspaper, I applaud thee.

An X or H pipe is essential on a dual exhaust car otherwise it will sound like crap. Hence, IMO, why the Viper sounds like crap, because it's creating the sound of 2 5 cylinder motors.

There a 5th gen owner that has done a thrue dual exhaust set-up, he run 2 x 2.225" pipe with an X pipe in the middle, then all the way to the back with 2 resonators & 2 mufflers, I think you might need to cut the spare wheel room in order to do that.

For a S/C or Turbo set-up running high boost that would definitely help I mean 4.5 " versus 2.225 " I'll let you do the math.

My 2 cents.

There's a box in the way on the left side facing the rear. You would have to relocate that in order to make it work. I checked it a long time ago. After the guy qouted me 6 and change to do it I kindly kept it movin.

I had a 'fake' dual exhaust on my 280z, took it off went single 3" exhaust... unless its a true dual you might lose performance anyway, and it does weigh more.

it does look good if you do it right... not worth it though honestly

It does look really nice. Especially with the dual exhaust photoshoped above. Does this likda rear lip actually exist somewhere? Can we easily and cheaply mod the Stillen rear valence to make it kinda look like this?

^ i dunno about modding the Stillen rear lip.. its kinda expensive..

your better off getting the ABS rear lip which is pretty much identical but juss a lil sloppily made.. and use that to experiment with so you dont have to spend too much money..

also.. if you have alot of experience with plastic then i think its possible.. someone try it for us lol

REELOOP! see what you started!? lol :P

I am actually working with a bodyshop at the moment on the rear lip. we are still gathering ideas. But I will bump this thread once I have something solid. and yes, I am just going to modify the rear valence from stillen, because i don't like how it looks anyway.

Wow thats tight....looks good on that silver too. I can probably do a mold and produce those if there is enough interest. I just might have to do that this weekend...like it alot...nice job on the PS...how about a nice size bmw rear window spoiler also PS'ed..although the one on there looks good.

How much does the split exhaust cost? Is that available anywhere?

Cosmetic only

I also like the first one.

If you want dual exhaust for strictly cosmetic reasons, just cut an old muffler in half and only mount the rear half. No one will notice that its just tips without a muffler unless they get down and crawl under there. Or if you want you could even weld it up on back and weld a pipe going to the actual exhaust. That way it would look functional but still be purely cosmetic. It also wouldn't add much for extra weight since its a hollow can with exhaust tips.

Personally, I prefer the stealth look. Dual exhaust like on the 7th gen V6 Accords. Can't see that it would be anything other than a cosmetic mod vs a free flowing single exhaust though.

i think if u r gonna do the dual muffler mod u should keep the same stock piping diameter because it seems like ud loose backpressure and the loss of to much backpressure actaully causes you to loose HP. the only way it seems this would work is if u have a lot of air going in like turbo supercharger because then ull need somewhere for that air to go. just my two cents if anyone thinks diff thats just my opinion dont get mad lol.

Back pressure's a myth. Read into it...someone posted a huge article up about it a while back.

Hey guys, what I have done since my last post, ( I own a 2k1 max ) I have cut the spare wheel well, and Cattman have made me a left muffler so I can have a Dual Muffler set-up.
I will be running a single 3" pipe from the Y to the 3" Fast Cat then to the 3" resonator then it will split to 2 x 2.5" pipe to each muffler. See the pics of the mock up below.

As of now the muffler are hold in place with tie-wrap, lol. This was done in order for me to cut the rear stock bumper. I will start to cut and weld the 3" pipping within 2 weeks or as soon as I get all my 3" SS piping and mandrel bent section.

It was hard to take a good pics since the car is at 3 feet from the garage door. I will take better pics tomorrow while the garage door is open.

Im no exhaust tech but isnt there a LOT to be considered when putting exhaust on your car....I dont know if it is the case with our Maximas but I thought some cars are negatively impacted by less backpressure. Therefore a true dual exhaust would hinder its performance..

Is this true?

My DEK engine is fully build, Blues print & balanced, and also getting a Vortech V2 T trim blower.

Even on a N/A engine it has been proven that a 3" exhaust will give some good gain.

On my set-up I'm sure it will give some good gain, I also did it for the aggressive look.

I was thinking that (but w/ something a little thicker than the AE lip)

BTW, I think that pic is the way the Stillen lip SHOULD have looked. It's nice, it's clean and it doesn't have those 'vents'. I've seen some members on here that black out the center (which isn't bad) but I like the cleanliness of the lip in the first post.
