seat belt mechanism

So the driver seatbelt... is a bit lazy... doesnt want to retract all the way when un buckled... most of the time... i leave the car in a hurry... and when i go back in... the seatbelt could be on the seat.

i have accidently sat on the belt a few times... and i am afraid that i might puncture my seat one day..

anything i can do ?

you can replace the seat belt assembly.. i dont know if nissans are different than lincolns in this respect, but my mechanic replaced the seat belt assembly on a lincoln ls by just pulling out the side paneling on the door pillar and unscrewing a couple things.. try to see if you can look up TSB or a how to replacement or something like that

EDIT: if you can, try to get a performance seatbelt.. they add about 10hp to the wheels

I would try putting some sort of cleaner on a rag, and running it through the "d" ring where the belt retracts through. Over time"gunk" builds up on it from our hands touching the material on the belt itself.

plus, seatbelts are a bit pricey due to them having pretensioners, they're around 200 a piece for a new one from the dealership.

By law seatbelts are about the only thing on the car that have a lifetime warranty. The stealer must inspect and fix if any part of it is defective. I would contact the stealership and verify if this is covered it sounds like some kind of defect, but a $0.25 phone call could save you $200.00
