Cold Air Intake.

Does anyone have a cold air intake in there 5thgen? I just bought a K&N 3 inch cone and I'm going to buy 3inch exhaust piping tomorrow, and try and make it. Has anyone done this?

Did you ever get your pictures scanned. Will be finishing my tomorrow and should have pictures for everyone tomorrow night. Will try to have the results of a g-tech run, to see if it gives me any improvement.

Haven't finished the install, not until tomorrow. So I still have all the original stuff on. That picture of the filters looks just like the one I got. I got a 6" cone filter called a power Stacker from intenseperformance.com. How much did you pay for yours? If you don't mind me asking.

Good price, mine us 45.50 w/5.00 S&H. I think K&Ns are to overated and expensive. They told me the same hp gains with the one I bought. Hope they are right.

It's awesome. I love it. I had actually bought a galant V6, but then drove a maxima. The next day I returned the galant and got my Maxima. I am from Hondo TX, about 25 minutes west of San Antonio.

Well I was alone and it was a very secluded road. Was kinda disappointed that it only got up to 130.

3" Pipe that my friend had left over from when he built his intake tube. It is mandrel bent steel pipe.

Well I got it all put on. You won't believe the gain I got.

Before I posted the following times:
0-60= 6.9
1/4=15.34 manually shifting the auto

After the mod:

0-60= 6.52
1/4= 14.89

I have pictures of what I did at the following link

Wow that's a big improvement. Did you go to the track or did you use a G-Tech? Those are some good times. Breaking into the 14's with an auto a a CAI. WooHoo....that's one for the auto's. Go automagic

from what I see from the pictures, the MAF sensor was relocated. THis might affect the car by not reading the inoformation properly. This might damage your car.

Also, using exhaust pipes might work, but exhaust pipes are not as smooth as aluminium pipes, thus, creating restrictions. The Aluminum intake pipe are alot thinner than exhaust pipe, so it allows more air to travel.....

The setup was right, but removing the Mass air flow sensor to another position will make your ECU get the wrong info.

I used to live in San Antonio, and I bet I drove through Hondo once per week. "A very secluded road" in Hondo, TX? I think you could call nearly ALL the roads secluded in Hondo, TX! (Except for Rte 90, that is.) It's beautiful country over there, especially as you head west out of Hondo toward Del Rio. I usually made a speed run or two on 90 myself. I live in Memphis, TN now, and I miss Texas bad! Take care.
