**Non-Bose** rear deck rattle
**Non-Bose** rear deck rattle
There seems to be a time when someone posted their procedures for squelching rear deck rattle for Bose Maximas (http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....030#post275434). However, that seems to be no longer available. My rear deck rattles quite a bit (thump in the trunk) - has anyone with a non-Bose setup encountered a solution as to what is causing the rattle and the fix?
Yes, two subs, but not turned up real loud (I'm getting too old). In fact, I kinda want to just drop down to one sub, to supplement the missing range of music, but nothing else. But the subs are loud even to rattle the heck out of something back there. I did not have this problem with my 3rd gen.
I went to Ollies, bought a huge peice of foam for like $5 and i removed the rear deck cover, cut the foam to fit, reinstalled the cover, no more rattle, ^_^, I have a nasty system, just ask some orgers who saw it lol setting off car alarms over 6 cars away , its cheap and easy to do, beats bending over for dynamat.
The rattle comes from the hole where the bose sub "should be" if you had bose. I dynamated the rear from the top inside the car and from the bottom inside the trunk. Some say to just put some kind of material where the child safety harness is...that will hold down the rear deck from rattling.
done properly (meaning not excessive) you have the low frequency without making your whole trunk rattle.
when i hear a car's bass from a block away and when it drives by, the whole trunk rattles, thats terrible and not done because they are an audiophile and want to hear the whole spectrum of the music.
you only need one small sub to get the sound required
