How does my car know it is ICY?

I didn't get an owner's manual with my car so I can't look up the particulars there. When it dropped to 37 degrees and there were snow flurries falling (in Dallas??!!! It was 80 on Tuesday, dammit!) and the word "ICY" popped up on the temperature/mileage display.

Did I just get a really smart car or what?

When the temperature is 3 Celsius or under the display shows ICY... That's about there in Fahrenheit...

I like that feature but the best is the heated steering wheel.

I wasn't telling, I was asking, I swear!

I'll have to d/l the owner's manual but do you know of any way to get a hard copy? Would the local Nissan dealer have one or be able to order it?

there is a sensor under the ffront grill that reads the temperature outside. by the way you dont need heated seats or a wheel in a sports sedan

Agreed. I have cloth seats so they don't get cold like leather anyway.

Any chance you have a link to an online Haynes Manual, too? Mine has been misplaced since I moved and I'm going nuts.

If you think that's cool, wait till it says HOT. I think it does it over 100 degrees. I asked this very same question 3 years ago.

I've used the heated steering wheel daily since November started.
I would barely call my ride a sports sedan...

Just this week my wife and I were commenting on how nice the heated seats in my Max are. It was below freezing and the leather just wasn't cutting it.

Then, all of a sudden, my 7-year old pipes up from the backseat "I want a heated seat, too!!"

Too bad he still sits in a booster. I doubt I could wire that without melting it.
