how to clean clear plastic

what do you use to clean the clear plastic over the gauges and the stereo face. i have some micro scratches already and it looks bad in sunlight. probably from prev. owner wiping it with dry paper towel or something. i just want to prevent more scratches and if possible fix the existing ones.

I doubt you can polish the plastic gauge cover...

I usually clean the dust off with the brush hose attachment on my vaccum...

I use a product called Plexus. It's an aersol spray that is designed to clean and cover minor scratches on clear plastic. I use it mainly to clean my visors for my motorcycle helmet. For my max I clean the radio face and the clear plastic cover over the gauges. A good motorcycle shop should carry it. I doubt if a Harley shop would have it so try a Honda/suzuki/yamaha/kawasaki/BMW/Triumph shop. Also never use a paper towel, wet or dry. I use 100% cotton but it sounds like you already know that.

The Waxshop's Safecut is super and does not damage any plexiglass surface, use to use it on an amp rack in my RamAir T/A.

Also a company called Nexus, makes a 3 part kit. I believe its available at www.autosupermart.com and you can get Safecut at local Pepboys. Use either to pull road film of headlamps and taillamps also...

yeah...

I've used Safe-cut.. that stuff works.. BUT I CANNOT emphasize enough, USE A SUPER SOFT CLOTH.. A VERY soft cloth. and rub lightly.. repeat more than once rather than scrubbing hard. fight the urge. just be patient and take your time and it will come out great. (use microfiber if you can) also be sure to clean the plastic thoroughly before tempting. Any dust will cause more scratches as you try to clean
