This is really wierd

hey guys

today i accidently ran out of gas for my car. Its parked on my driveway which is a bit inclined so the back of the car is lower and the upper part (engine bay) is higher. i tried to start the car and its not starting, i can see the starter trying to start the car but there is no gas coming. my tank was empty so i put in 5 bux of gas with those red container. its still not working. someone told me to let it stay ... there might be some air pressure build up and it will go by itself in few hours. can you guys plz advise thanks.

get your car off the driveway then try to start it. a friend of mine had that happen to himself before and I told him to roll his car off his driveway and his car started up just fine.

If the fuel pump wasn't getting fuel and you tried for a while to get the car going then you may have cooked the fuel pump. The fuel pump can get fairly hot when it is running and the gas keeps it cool. I am not sure of the Max fuel pump but most fuel pumps internals are made of plastic. I have seen it way to often when someone runs out of gas they end up needing a fuel pump. The first thing you should do is have the fuel pressure checked and make sure the pump is working.

Try puting some more gas in it. That may be easire than pushing it in the street and having it still not start. You can prime the fuel system by turning the ignition to the on position (just before starting it) and back a few times. The pump will run for about a second when the key is in the on position. You should be able to hear it.

I don't think you damaged the pump. It will shut off as soom as the engine stops.
