Can't get the battery out!! Help

2000SE. First time I ever had to take the battery out. The negative comes off fine. But the positive....what a B!tch. I have the clamp completely loose and ready to come off. But the 'bracket' or whatever it is...will not flex or move at all for me to slide the clamp off the positive terminal.

I have no idea what the exact name is, but to the left of the poitive clamp is another nut and washer. To the left of that is a fuse on top of the 'arm.' I started to just pry the 'arm' up a bit and to the left...but worried I'll break something.

What step am I missing?

sounds like the positive is just stuck..

make sure the negative is not touching the anyhting conductive.. and get a screwdriver and pry the positive off...

I will try this. But even if I get the terminal clamp free, so its not touching the positive terminal at all, It seems that I have to bend the terminal clamp up to get it over the head? Worried that I may damage the nonflexible 'arm' that attaches to the positive terminal.

when one of the terminals is stuck, i usually tap it lightly w/ the ratchet to break it free.

From: Auburn WA,
You can unbolt the complete terminal from the fuse housing. Also the possitive terminal fhould lift at least 2 inches above the battery alowing you to remove from battery without bending anything unless somebody put a battery that is to big in.

just tap the terminal side to side until it rotates, then lift

When I bought my battery at Autozone, they told me there's two sizes that are listed for the car (00 GLE). One's taller, ones wider. They only had the taller one. It's a little tight, but it still hooks up.
