AFE Air Filters

Did a search, came up with nothing. Has anyone use an AFE PRO DRY S OE Replacement Air Filter?

With all the MAF sensor horror stories involving re-oiling cotton gauze air filters, I am looking for other options. Anyone use this filter?

Also, some of the filters on that page show two part numbers, the K&N Filter, for example. The 06-00-01 through 12-00-02 is $15 more than the other one but some of the other filter brands only show one filter. My car has a June 2001 build date. No problems with the STP air filter I bought to replace the dirty one that was in the car, so is the two part number thing something I even need to worry about?

I've already done the OSCAI, just looking for a way to maximize it now.

I run the K&N on my 2000se and have never had an issue MAF

I had k&n in my 00 and did not have maf issues. I have read that over oiling the filter after cleaning, may cause maf issues. Check your local advance auto parts. Price may be the same as online stores.

In this study the AFE rates well. Better than the K&N. Sorry guys.

Looks like they all flow very similar amounts of air, looks to be within 2 cfm on the flow test/filter restriction table. Not even sure based on that test if it is worth buying anything but off the shelf paper air filters.

It's been dyno proven that the filter is not to blasme for power 'loss'. Numerous people have dyno'd w/o a filter and saw no gains whatsoever.

Not only is air flow looked at, but the amount of dirt trapped or let through. I thought that would catch someones eye. It caught mine. K&N capacity is less that half of the best tested. No big deal just need to clean it more.

However, the amount of dirt let through the filter is a concern, I would think. Over 7 grams for the K&N vs less than 1 gram for the 2 best. AFE was just over 1 gram from the looks of things.

I run a K&N on my Daytona and have thought of finding something a bit better. The Max is a stock paper filter for the moment.
