What will destroy a flywheel?

My stock clutch is going bad, 124,000 miles regular steady not "old people" driving but slower than usual its fine but if i give anything over half throttle in 3rd 4th or 5th gear the RPM's jump about 5-700 then drop right back down and the car itself takes off. I want to put off having the clutch done til after the holidays if I can but I've heard of some discs wearing down so much the rivets cut into the flywheel? How close to this could I be?

Usually the flywheel gets resurfaced on a clutch replacement right? But if its been dug into i think its gotta be replaced, I just didnt wanna get that far if i didnt have to

If your clutch is THAT worn out - your car won't even move.

Yes, flywheel usually gets resurfaced - but I don't see the point - get a lightweight flywheel.
