Need your Help

For the past 6 months ive been having some trouble with my car. Ive been having some issues with hard shifts between first and second gear. I took the car to the local mechanic to have a trans flush done. Prior to that i used the trans seafoam to hopefully help with the shifting. It didnt do to much to help fix the problem but it did clean the inside of the trans pretty good. The mechanic said that the fluid was black but he said that the seafoam would do that. Anyways. While i was there he checked the log book to my car where he records all the maintenence done and he said that there was a check engine light with a code for the Throttle Position sensor. My question is does the throttle position sensor have anything to do with how the transmission shifts. Either way i will probably have it fixed because of low idle but im hoping that the sensor also controls the shifting. Also does anyone know how much the (TPS) will cost.

what year is your car?

it sounds like a bad TCM (tranny control module) or shift solenoids (common problems)

Does the OD light ever flash? A bad TPS can definitely cause hard shifting. I wouldn't go throwing parts at it until it's properly diagnosed. You'll probably just waste your money.

The check engine light does not flash. Ive gone to the dealership to have them tell me what the code was and they said that it was a TPS. that was 6 or so months ago. They quoted me 1400 dollars including labor to fix it. So i told them to go you know where. Even my idle is at 350 rpm which is really bad

TCM (tranny control module) or shift solenoids

the TCM is behind the radio and is pricey (about $800) but better than having to replace the tranny latter
